Very good to have this in narrative form, and in shorter compass. It’s forever relevant. My great-great grandfather and namesake commanded one of those regiments that were released by Secretary Stanton from the post-Gettysburg campaign to return to fight the riots, but sources suggest that his 23rd Brooklyn regiment arrived too late. I’m a historian so I wonder if that’s the case, and am glad to have your sources cited. -Bill Everdell

The history of uprisings and riots in this country can tell us the REAL story of our evolution as a country. More so than re-telling all the accomplishments of the rich and famous. This subject should be taught in our schools (despite CRT protestors).
