He was local, yes, but from the Manhattan church on Stuyvesant Park, not the nearby St. George’s Episcopal Church on Marcy Avenue.

It's remarkable that this building was gerrymandered out of the boundaries of the Crown Heights North III Historic District, which practically surrounds it. It certainly should be designated!
