I grew up in Greene, down the road in Chenango County, and the same was true there! Many of my classmates have returned to retire in Greene, as they came to realize it was the best place they ever lived. I also spent a lot of time in Gilbertsville with my cousins, but not for trick-or-treating. Did the Majors Inn have candy? Now THAT was a spooky place.

But, I beg to differ-- your question, "what's wrong with people?" as it related to razor blades in apples, should really be quantified as "what's wrong with men?" ( too much to expound on here...). Women would never commit such a heinous act as putting a razor blade in a Halloween treat.
